The Manager, Consolidation leads the coordination, preparation and review of Emera's consolidated internal and external financial reporting.

You will be responsible for guiding a team of professional accountants through Emera's financial consolidation process and internal reporting of consolidated results in accordance with USGAAP and be a key contributor to the quarterly and annual external financial reporting process.


Key Accountabilities include:

**- Responsibility for the monthly financial consolidation process, including consolidation entries and reconciliation of intercompany accounts;

  • Responsibility for foreign currency translation impacts on the consolidation to ensure in compliance with USGAAP standards;
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Emera's affiliates to deliver timely and accurate reporting of monthly and quarterly results against forecasts, budget and prior year;
  • Leading and providing guidance and mentorship to direct reports and other team members contributing to the consolidation process;
  • Upholding the consolidation framework in the consolidation system, including mapping of companies and accounts, intercompany processes, foreign currency considerations, updating reports and training Emera and affiliate employees;
  • Working with other corporate finance groups and Emera affiliates to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely;
  • Upholding controls that impact the consolidations process;
  • Collaborating with external auditors to monitor the status and completion of the quarterly review and annual audit process;
  • Key contributor to the timely and accurate preparation and review of the MD&A and financial statements and other internal and external reporting documents as required;
  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvements; and
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as required.

Competencies, Education and Experience:


  • A CPA designation is required;
  • 57 years of related experience, focused on consolidation. Public company financial reporting experience would be considered an asset;
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of accounting and consolidation processes;
  • Experience preparing and reviewing MD&A and financial statement disclosures;
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work with tight deadlines as part of a dynamic team environment, and ability to manage adhoc requests as required;
  • Ability to focus on overall process, while at the same time able to dive into transactional detail if needed to resolve questions or issues;
  • Ability to review data for reasonability and identify drivers of results;
  • A strong team leader with strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships;
  • Brings enthusiasm, initiative, and a strong commitment to professional development;
  • Knowledge of USGAAP and rateregulated accounting would be considered an asset; and
  • Experience with consolidation and financial reporting software (Hyperion Financial Management and Cognos Disclosure Management) would be considered an asset.
