About the Role:


The Commercial Procurement Manager will oversee, direct and perform activities relating to the purchase and procurement of major equipment for substation, transmission, distribution, solar and battery storage projects.

Essential Functions- Manage vendor (distribution and manufacturing) relationships and expectations involved with procuring materials, equipment, and services- Maintain primary and secondary vendor supply options- Negotiate daily pricing, volume discounting and leveraging of our overall buying power- Create innovative agreements that bring added "value" to our business- Assess distributors' capabilities- Follow current market conditions and evaluate future market trending- Interact with various internal departments to improve our current material procurement practices and coordinate and manage excellent service for internal customers- Negotiate project specific and frame work agreements with commodity and engineered material

  • Strong skill set in contract deliverables
  • Issue purchase orders within company's accounting system while working with Operations to secure project schedule needs
  • Work with Operations team to ensure suppliers are delivering according to contract
  • Complete or arrange for source inspection of critical material
  • Mediate conflicts between project teams and vendors on performance issues
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industryspecific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
  • Work with the team in the pursuit of work with the development of project specific procurement plans & supporting information for proposals.
  • Collaborate with estimating by obtaining competitive quotes and providing recent pricing for previously purchased materials to keep bids current, accurate and competitive
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Develop staffing plans, allocate resources, and formulate staffing budgets
  • Hire project team and fill required roles
  • Oversee a team of around 30 employees
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Companydesignated field or office location
  • Regular and predictable attendance

About You:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 plus years of Commercial /procurement experience related to utility, transmission and distribution, and/or battery storage is required.
  • Experience with various types of contracts contracts with the clients as well as subcontracts with suppliers, vendors, and sub trades
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Finance is required; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the technical aspects of materials and equipment specified and installed in the transmission and distribution and storage industry
  • Ability to mentor, invest and train those around you and develop a staff through ongoing training
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to prepare, present & carry out financial & schedule analyses, evaluations, and recommendations related to selection of vendors and best value determination for project
  • Ensure that the company's best interests are represented including profitability, cost control, meeting schedules, and overall project success
