We are looking for an active, enthusiastic individual to support a 24-year-old man who has a developmental disability.
A supportive roommate is someone who receives a salary in exchange for living with and supporting an individual with a developmental disability.
This position is for a live-in Supportive Roommate to provide early morning, evening, and every-other weekend support for an active adult man with a developmental disability and cognitive challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with getting ready in the mornings before daytime staff arrive, and provide evening support including preparing meals, after daytime staff leave
- Assist during the night if individual wakes
- Provide support every other weekend
- Some shower assistance and personal care is required
- Ability to respond calmly and support individual
- Prompting and/or direct support for tasks such as dressing, eating, etc.
- Support individual to pursue his interests in the community and at home and facilitate his inclusion in the community
- Grocery shopping and meal prep, and basic household chores.
- Provide transportation to and from activities
- Understand that wellbeing is achieved through positive relationships, feeling of belonging, purpose, positive emotion, security and being able to contribute in meaningful ways.
- Encourage and influence a healthy lifestyle i.e. promote healthy eating and exercise
- Offer supportive strategies that contribute to feelings of peace, dignity and selfworth and that help to manage feelings of anxiety and frustration.
