    Position Summary:

    The Vice President Mental Health & Addictions (VP MH&A) will contribute to the overall strategic direction and operational oversight of nursing and clinical best practice for the delivery of exceptional patient and family centered care in the Mental Health & Addictions Program.

    In addition, the role will have the opportunity to lead the strategic transformational goals of the organization into practices, processes and policies that serve both patients and their families.

    This role works closely and collaboratively with the VP Restorative Care, VP of Medical Affairs & Quality, and Medical Director of MH&A to ensure patients and their families receive excellent and safe care.

    The Vice President Mental Health & Addictions will plan, organize, evaluate and be accountable for the Clinical Operations for the Mental Health & Addictions services provided to patients and their families.

    Qualifications:


    • Accountable for the effective and efficient utilization of the operating and capital budgets for the Vice President MH&A portfolio.
    • Acts as a liaison with community, other hospitals and government agencies.
    • Coaches Directors in the effective performance of their roles.
    • Contributes as a member of the Executive Team to the overall strategic plan, including establishing goals for the organization.
    • Develops and oversees recovery-oriented care across HDGH's Mental Health and Addiction services throughout the life span. Focus will be on collaboration with community partners, staff, physicians, peer support, patients/clients and families in establishing the recovery philosophy.
    • Lead the development and implementation of a strategy that supports excellence in patient and family experiences in a coordinated system of care.
    • Participates and leads in the development of new patient programs that are consistent with the overall goals of the organization.
    • Participates in establishing goals for Clinical Support Services and Allied Health services that are consistent with the organizational goals and objectives.
    • Participates in planning for health care delivery with various community agencies and partners.
    • Partners with the Chair, Medical Advisory Committee on issues of credentialing and professional practice standards
    • Plays a leadership role in the recruitment and ongoing support of medical leadership roles, including conducting external reviews and searches
    • Provide a vision and guide the organization in creating a collaborative inter-professional practice environment that maximizes professional scope of practice and shared governance.
    • Provide strategic leadership to advance best clinical practice initiatives in a shared decision making model across the organization
    • Represent HDGH on numerous internal and external committees, partnerships and involvements
    • Works collaboratively with the President and CEO and other members of the executive team to ensure consistency of operation systems and processes across the organization in order to maximize the quality and safety of patient care, and meet the clinical, quality, and financials goals of HDGH
    • Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while working with highly confidential information
    • Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage a multi-faceted workload under strict deadlines.
    • Advanced presentation development and facilitation skills
    • Demonstrated strategic planning experience
    • Demonstrated track record of successfully influencing collaboration, and communication at the executive level and across the organization
    • Evidence of innovative and creative problem solving
    • Experience coaching and developing teams to high levels of performance and accountability
    • Experience with quality improvement processes
    • Possesses professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent communication skills.

    Education and/or Certification:


    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Preferred), or a Related Discipline – Required
    • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or Related Field – Preferred
    • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a leadership role preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting - Required
