Description:
Under the direction of the Director, Benefits, Pensions & Payroll, the incumbent provides a broad range of analytical and administrative services relating to the benefit and pension programs for all employee groups.
The Benefit & Pension Analyst is responsible for conducting analyses and reporting on current and historical plan utilization including Green Shield benefit plans, and other benefit provisions, as well as retirement and early retirement incentive programs.
The Benefit & Pension Analyst prepares initial costings for benefit plan changes related to collective bargaining, and models changes to assess impact and affordability; conducts or participates in surveys related to benefits and pensions, and prepares analyses of survey results to assist Director in decisions and recommendations regarding programs; assesses the impact of external influences such as legislative changes or government programs on our plans.
The Benefit & Pension Analyst leads the administration of specific benefits and pension programs including a Special Circumstances Fund and various Phased Retirement Programs by working closely with staff, their departments, the Provost's Office and the payroll department.
The incumbent participates and provides analytical and project support in benefit and pension initiatives, such as new benefit programs, Request for Proposals (RFPs) and special projects.
Qualifications Required:

EDUCATION:
University degree plus working towards the completion of a related professional designation such as Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three (3) years of experience of human resources experience with direct experience in benefits and pensions required.
