Overview


Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations, the Human Resources Generalist - Recruitment will be primarily responsible for leading and supporting the full talent management cycle to ensure seamless onboarding and retention of employees.

The Human Resources Generalist - Recruitment will be responsible for ensuring the proper execution of the following:

  • Full cycle recruitment including creating, editing, posting career opportunities, administering the Talent Acquisition System and participating in interviews
  • Accountable for the City's onboarding program to ensure a warm welcome and smooth transition for new employees into the organization, including supporting and guiding supervisors. This will include ongoing management and maintenance of the program
  • Collaborate closely with hiring supervisors and managers to assist in their hiring needs
  • Prepare offer letters and ensure all required forms for employment are completed and the information is shared will all involved parties
  • Administrative role in the creation and maintenance of employee files
  • Manage and execute internal postings and internal movement in a unionized environment
  • Oversee the summer student hiring program
  • Administrator and lead supervisors, managers and employees on the performance appraisal program

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in human resources, industrial relations, business management or another related discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive human resources experience in a fastpaced environment
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to multitask in a busy environment with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong initiative, ability to exercise sound judgment, and work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience with social, print, and visual media and experience with website maintenance
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Data management skills and strong experience working with spreadsheets and databases
  • Experience handling contentious matters with sensitivity, confidentiality, and balance
  • Knowledge of human rights, employment equity, inclusivity, and accessibility with an ability to understand and effectively communicate these principles

The following will be considered assets

  • CHRP/CHRL designation
  • Experience in a unionized
  • Bilingualism in French and English


The City of Cornwall offers a sector competitive salary, ranging from $84,279 - $94,912 plus a comprehensive benefits package and OMERS pension plan.
