OVERVIEW

The Business Development Manager is responsible for meeting revenue targets within assigned market, identifying and securing business development opportunities and promoting products and services provided by Med-Eng, PSP and Safariland to clients, primarily withing the Department of National Defense.

The incumbent is responsible for developing strategies to penetrate new markets and accounts, conduct account planning and maintain major account plans to maximize revenue from assigned customers.

Regularly monitors team progress against sales targets and develops new strategies/business development plans to ensure target achievement and revenue growth.

Participates in the identification of new product ideas, interacts with Med-Eng and PSP end users, customer representatives and corporate business partners and provides port-sales and program leadership support to internal and external clients.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains a detailed understanding of products, capabilities, sales objectives and strategies, pricing and delivery policies and practices.
  • Understands the prospect and customers' critical issues and initiatives, defining and linking solutions to ensure achievement in these key areas.
  • Develops and implements effective business development plans to generate revenues for Med
  • Eng, PSP Safariland standard products within assigned territory.
  • Identifies and leads pursuit of major programmatic opportunities, beyond current product portfolios to grow engagement and revenue within assigned territory.
  • Conducts presentations and training demonstrations for products and services available within the Med-Eng, PSP and Safariland product portfolio.
  • Maintains existing customer contacts, and initiates and establishes new contacts within specified territory to promote and sustain revenue growth.
  • Establishes and maintains highlevel, executive contact with accounts, focusing on the establishment, maintenance, and growth of strategi relationships.
  • Qualifies prospects according to Med-Eng, PSP and Safariland capabilities and applicability. Managing the execution of the business development and sales process and leveraging appropriate internal resources to secure sales.
  • Assumes ownership of presentations, proposals, and other documents including RFP and RFI responses.
  • Provides accurate sales forecasts based upon realistic close timelines.
  • Identifies and communicates product improvements and recommendations that originate in the field.
  • Utilizes automated forecasting tools and CRM to track all opportunities and prospects/customer related information.
  • Provides functional and technical guidance and leadership to distributors and end users.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains respectful communication with coworkers and supervisory staff.
  • Familiar with the Company's ISO Quality policies/processes and understands the impact of this position on the competitiveness and performance of the company.
  • Trained in the requirements of NIJ Standard Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor and to facilitate conformity to the NIJ body Armor Compliance Testing Program specifications.
  • Complies with and follows Health & Safety policies and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous relevant experience/knowledge relative to Canadian Military acquisition practices / process
  • 5 years proven experience of related work experience within the industry or associated field.
  • Bilingualism would be an asset.
  • Ideally has a background of public service in the military or law enforcement.
  • Proven experience closing sales.
  • Aggressive highly motivated hunter with a solid sales track record.
  • Must be an articulate, persuasive, and passionate communicator.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to exceed forecast.
  • Knowledge of products used by military and law enforcement agencies.
  • Knowledge of the government procurement practices would be an asset.
  • Skill in translating product knowledge into recommendations for PSP to gain competitive advantage.
  • Good work ethic with attention to details
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to be flexible and to consider other points of view.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
