Description
Relief child and youth care worker position-exclusively weekend shifts. Either 2:45am-3pm, 2:45pm-11pm or 12-hour shift 10am-10pm. This position asks for a commitment of working every weekend between 16-24 hours.Key Responsibilities:

- Observes, assesses and documents significant behaviors emitted by young person in activity logs and reports.
- Creates and designs age appropriate, daily living activities as a forum for therapeutic and educational interventions.
- Initiates, organizes, monitors and actively participates in group activities, (special outings, concerts, sports, dances, party games, crafts, camping, music) as part of the total treatment plan.
- On an ongoing basis, observes and assesses interactions, behaviors and affect.
- Teaches and assists young people in acquiring appropriate skills relating to daily chores, routines, and personal hygiene habits.
- Advocates and actively builds trust and rapport with young people (and family) through interactive play, activities, and personal interactions.
- Provides counselling opportunities for young people focusing upon their needs and problems.
- Intervenes in crisis situation with young people, utilizing non abusive restraint practices as necessary.
- Maintains a therapeutic approach to behavior management and explains behavioral expectations and consequences to young people.
Qualifications and Professional Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Human Services, preference given to Child and Youth Care and Social Work disciplines.
- Minimum 1 (one) year experience working with highrisk youth in outofhome placements.
- Experience & knowledge in First Nations culture is an asset for all positions.
- Valid driver's license.
- Standard 1st Aid (level C), ASIST Suicide Certificate(s) are an asset; however, courses are offered after commencement.
- Requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID19 and provide proof thereof as a condition of employment.

Part-time hours: 16-24 per week
Salary:
$21.00-$24.00 per hour
