We are currently looking for a Personal Trainer to join our team of committed professionals. This part-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Chippewa location in North Bay.

Under the leadership of the Health & Wellness Supervisor, the Personal Trainer provides direct one-on-one fitness assessment, program development along with exercise supervision.

This job is required to reach financial targets set with their direct supervisor and executes member retention tasks.

The Personal Trainer conducts tours for members and potential members, follows up with potential members and actively engages and builds relationships with members utilizing the Fitness Floor.

This job is also responsible for ensuring the safety of clients and participants while on the fitness floor.

Major Responsibilities

  • Based on member consultations and the accepted best practices, design personalized fitness programs for clients
  • Motivate and inspire clients to attain goals
  • Be a positive role model for members
  • Proactively recruit members as personal training clients
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and YMCA staff
  • Respond to members inquiries regarding programs and or equipment promptly
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe working condition
  • Schedule appointments for self and other staff on the fitness floor
  • Accurately track all sessions conducted with clients
  • Incorporate SAM Standards into daily responsibilities

Qualifications:


  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • College diploma or University degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Recreation or related field considered an asset
  • WHMIS Certification
  • YMCA Personal Trainer (or equivalent) in good standing
  • Minimum of three (3) months of Personal Training experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Selfmotivated and a strong team player
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Physically fit
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
