OurCare is a national initiative that aims to engage the public on the future of primary care in Canada.

Researchers at MAP are working with MASS LBP to understand the needs, preferences, and values of everyday people living in Canada and their priorities for a better primary care system.

The initiative will be rolled out in three phases over 15 months:

phase one is a national survey, phase two are reference panels in one or more provinces, and phase three consists of community roundtables focused on marginalized populations in at least three provinces.


Specific activities of this project will include:

  • Support analysis and interpretation of Phase 1 (national survey) results with a view to scholarly publication and presentation
  • Design and execute research related to Phase 3 in conjunction with MASS LBP, community partners, the PI and collaborators. This includes developing budgets, securing REB approval, data collection, data analysis and data interpretation.
  • Engage relevant stakeholders in the research and produce summaries of the results for a range of audiences including the public and policymakers
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication and presents at local, national and/or international meetings in collaboration with the Principal Investigators and team members

Qualifications:


  • PhD or MD in related discipline (5 or more years direct research experience)
  • Experience in several aspects of research study development, initiation, execution, analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
- experience with the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and research presentations as well as knowledge translation products for a range of stakeholders

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • A strong understanding of primary care and a commitment to health equity
