About the Role
The Marketplace Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution and success of Arcadia Earth Toronto's Sustainable Marketplace. Reporting directly to the President, this role ensures the Marketplace operates at a high standard while delivering an exceptional guest experience aligned with Arcadia Earth's mission and sustainability values.
The Marketplace Lead supervises the Marketplace team and works closely with the Exhibit Manager to support scheduling coordination and alignment with overall exhibit operations.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Marketplace Floor Leadership
- Lead Marketplace guest experience and ensure strong storytelling and guest engagement standards.
- Ensure constant active engagement with guests as they enter the marketplace as a welcoming voice and for any directions required… as well as with guests as they exit the exhibit asking about their experience, introducing them to the marketplace, our carefully selected products and promotions, and when appropriate, ask for reviews on Google and/or Trip Advisor mentioning the available marketplace discount.
- Handle guest escalations related to Marketplace purchases and service.
Team Leadership & Staff Performance Support
- Supervise Marketplace Associates and provide coaching and feedback.
- Support onboarding and training of new staff.
- Support performance expectations in collaboration with the President.
Scheduling Support (with Exhibit Manager)
- Work with the Exhibit Manager to support Marketplace scheduling needs and coverage.
- Communicate staffing requirements based on volume, events, and seasonal peaks.
Operations & Retail Standards
- Oversee daily operations including POS, merchandising, restocking, cleanliness, sampling stations and opening/closing procedures.
Inventory Oversight & Product Support
- Support inventory management, receiving, organization, and sales trend tracking.
- Communicate product needs and low-stock items to the President.
Merchandising & Visual Presentation
- Oversee visual merchandising and seasonal refreshes.
Safety & Emergency Procedures (with Exhibit Manager)
- Ensure the team follows safety standards and is knowledgeable in evacuation procedures.
Other Responsibilities
- Support events, activations, and exhibit operations when needed.
Prerequisites
- 1–2 years retail experience with leadership/keyholder responsibilities preferred.
- Shopify experience is strongly preferred.
- Availability for rotating shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Work Requirements / Working Conditions
- Must be available to work a rotating schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods during shifts (rest and meal breaks provided). Please note that flashing lights and loud sound effects are present throughout the exhibition environment.
