SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team.

The Director, Strategic Planning influences SaskEnergy's present and future direction by identifying opportunities and threats, and developing recommended action plans.

This includes; directing, leading and developing plans to strategically position SaskEnergy in a dynamic energy environment.

The Director is accountable for corporate strategic planning, including the facilitation of sessions with the SaskEnergy's Board of Directors, Executive and senior management.

This position is also required to lead the environmental scan, consolidation of strategic initiatives and the roll out of the corporate plan to all staff.

Position Details- Non-union. This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities- Accountable for leading the corporate strategic planning process, including facilitation of multiple planning sessions with the Board of Directors, Executive and senior management.- Develop and recommend corporate strategies by proactively identifying strategic issues which may impact SaskEnergy's current and long-term success.- Lead and direct the development of the Corporate Plan, including environmental scan, operational planning, consolidation and rollout.- Expedite implementation of strategic decisions, including assembling multi-divisional teams and providing overall project/program governance where required.- Responsible for the development, review and monitoring of the balanced scorecard and associated key performance indicators.- Direct and lead corporate communication regarding strategic planning.- Develop strategies related to customer intelligence and needs, to ensure the business is able to meet the current and future needs of our customers, including emerging opportunities across the energy landscape (e.g. CCS, RNG, Hydrogen etc.)- Responsible for conducting research and analysis on the energy industry, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, legislative changes, new business models and organizational frameworks.- Anticipate risk scenarios as well as suitable risk management strategies.

The incumbent will also establish KPIs that facilitate the analysis/measurement of SaskEnergy performance against the overall goals, objectives, targets and budget.- Other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.- Ten (10) years in a business environment with at least four years progressive experience in strategy or risk management.- Strong knowledge of the energy industry and SaskEnergy including the Corporation's service offerings, operational processes, and the inter-relationships of departmental functions.- Strong analytical and critical thinking, creative problem solving, judgment, negotiation, influence and strategic decision-making skills.- Ability to effectively provide guidance and development to management in managing their respective areas of responsibility.- Interpersonal and leadership skills, highly collaborative.

Ability to build, manage and foster relationships across the organization and external parties.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills which are equally effective with large and small audiences, one-on-one level and to a wide range of constituencies.- Ability to manage constantly changing priorities, multiple initiatives and meet rigorous deadlines.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.


Additional Information- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.- A Class 5 Driver's License is required.
