Position Description:

The
Professor, Fashion Techniques and Design,
School of Fashion and Jewellery is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective, learning-centered environment for students through the design and delivery of curriculum within the School of Fashion at George Brown as well as development of new curriculum in response to sector trends, technology and research.

The professor will teach courses to students in all years at the diploma level, in the
Fashion Techniques and Design, Fashion Business Industry and Fashion Management programs in addition to other degrees, diplomas and certificate level courses when required.

Education / Certification / Designation:

Masters in Fashion (in Design or related to Garment Construction / development) is required.

Experience:

Knowledge and experience with industrial sewing machines, irons, fusers, and pattern design software is required.
A history of scholarship and peer reviewed publications will be an asset.
Prior postsecondary teaching training and experience in adult instructions techniques, and curriculum design experience will be required and will be applied in a variety of teaching and learning settings.

Knowledge / Skills Set:

A thorough knowledge of current trends in the apparel sector, including apparel construction, pattern making, and product development practice, with proven ability to teach the entry-level practitioner in the classroom and lab setting will be required.

Academic leadership experience in a post-secondary program is an asset.

Must have experience with advanced learning technologies, including online delivery.
Involvement in innovation and professional development related to teaching, use of technology, and student success.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and lifelong learning.
Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process will consist of a mock teaching experience and, in some cases, a practical skills component.
