Position Summary:

This role will report to the Executive Director, Human Resources - West.


This role can be based out of any of our lower mainland Casino locations and is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Ensure that a constructive, collaborative and transparent labour relations environment is maintained at all unionized locations in British Columbia.
  • Actively foster productive relations between the Company, the Union and team members.
  • Ensure that unionized sites fully comply with all relevant legislation.
  • Lead all aspects of the collective bargaining process, including developing the collective bargaining strategy, formalizing the mandate, researching recently negotiated agreements and current labour relations trends, costing proposals and drafting proposed language.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret information such as case law, relevant precedence and arbitral jurisprudence in order to assist the Company in addressing differences in interpreting collective agreements or other documents of record.
  • Prepare for, and represent, the Company at arbitrations and mediations, when necessary.
  • Create and deliver labour relations related training; including collective agreement changes.
  • Draft all union facing communications, including grievance resolutions, settlements and memorandums.
  • Provide guidance and consultation around managing change that impacts unionized team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Qualification Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of labour relations or relevant human resource management experience.
  • Degree and/or diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or Industrial Relations from a recognized postsecondary institution, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of labour relations practices, effective relationship management with the union and the collective bargaining process.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable employment related and labour legislation; including leading labour laws and human rights decisions.
  • Extensive experience conducting disciplinary investigations and resolving grievances.
  • CPHR designation an asset.
  • Serving It Right or the ability to obtain a Serving it Right Certification.
  • Able to successfully obtain a criminal record check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
