Every day, more than 1,200 people work with the YMCAs of Québec network, providing a variety of services that create positive change in people's lives.


In collaboration with the youth program coordinator, the youth worker works with adolescents aged 12 to 17 in the Youth Zone, helping to create a safe space for at-risk or troubled youth.

He/she works with other staff to raise awareness among young people, and to plan and run workshops.

The challenges we offer

  • Ensure the planning, organization and facilitation of all programming;
  • Supervise a team of volunteers and specialized animators, particularly for arts and civic participation activities;
  • Ensure young people's safety, respect for the code of conduct and good relations within the Youth Zone, the center and on outings;
  • Promote the development of autonomy and social skills (respect, sharing, mutual aid, selffulfillment, creation of positive ties, etc.), the learning of civic and democratic life, and the involvement of young people in their community.
  • Participate in Youth Zone promotional events (schools, CJEs, etc.);
  • Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy within his/her position and the association, and participate in the annual campaign and/or fundraising events;
  • Ensure a quality service offering in line with the principles and values of The YMCAs of Québec.

The person we're looking for should:

  • Have a background in special education, social work, delinquency intervention or a related field;
  • Have at least 1 year's experience in intervention/animation, more specifically with young people aged 12 to 17;
  • Knowledge of and interest in youth issues;
  • Demonstrate leadership, creativity, initiative and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English;
  • Have no legal impediments related to the job.

Assets:
First aid and CPR certification;
