Production Supervisor

How you will contribute
Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in manufacturing bakery products including, inspecting work-in-progress product and ongoing employee training.


Essential Functions

  • Determines ingredient and personnel requirements to meet specified production and coordinates work schedules to ensure efficient operations
  • Informs workers of production changes, and monitors control panels of mixers, freezers, ovens, and other equipment to determine whether control settings meet company specifications
  • Observes products in various stages of process to visually determine whether products meet requirements for size, color, texture, and smoothness
  • Interviews applicants for production and trains new employees in work methods and procedures
  • Manage work area to ascertain progress of scheduled work and observes workers to verify conformity with prescribed work procedures, safety regulations, productivity, and standards of work quality
  • Routinely monitors ingredient levels and communicates requirements to Purchaser for immediate reordering
  • Attends 15minute, daily meetings to discuss any production concerns and facilitate information flow between departments
  • Attends daily production meetings
  • Participate (on a rotational basis with other Supervisors) monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee meeting
  • All other duties as required

Physical Demands

  • May be required to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time.
  • Will be required to engage in bending, stooping, squatting and ladder climbing
  • Due to the environment, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions which include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
  • May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)

What will make you successful

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities, and best practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in manufacturing, preferably in food production.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English.
  • Must be available for shift work on a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer competent (excel and word).
  • Level 1 & 2 Certification for JH&SC.

Work schedule:
Two-week rotation of days, evenings, and nights. Monday to Friday.
