Amalgamated Mining & Tunnelling (AM&T) is seeking a special person to serve as an accounting assistant.

We're looking for a self-motivated, personable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys interacting with colleagues and working in a fast-paced office environment.

The Accounting assistant will provide accounting assistance to the Controller, Operations Shop Manger and Operations Manager.

In addition to seeking someone who can help make AM&T a more vibrant and comfortable place to work, the right person should be passionate about finding ways to help the entire team function more effectively.

From our Edmonton office, AM&T has grown over the past 30 years to be Canada's largest specialist for the sale and rental of underground mining equipment.

AM&T is proficient in sourcing, customizing, and supplying all types of underground mining and tunnelling equipment with a fleet of over 400 machines.


Responsibilities:


  • Payoll
  • Biweekly for 14 employees and subcontractors, issue ROE's and T4's.
  • Match purchase orders with payables invoices, code and enter into the accounting system.
  • Accurately invoice monthly equipment rentals and intercompany invoices for equipment overhaul and repairs.
  • Complete monthly GST & Payroll reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the management of the equipment inventory and job costing
  • Assist the Controller with the month end / year end working papers and financial statement preparation
  • Complete monthly employee expense statement review to ensure compliance with Company expense policies and process for payment
  • Generate quarterly financial reports
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Annual WCB returns and claim submissions
Requirements / Key attributes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior payroll & payable processing experience
  • Job costing experience
  • Strong organization and timemanagement skills
  • Team player with an exceptional attitude
  • Accounting Diploma and/or 7 years' experience in Bookkeeping/Accounting
  • Full cycle bookkeeping experience
Working Conditions

This position works in the Accounting department with responsibilities for the Amalgamated Mining Equipment division


The working conditions include:

  • Typical work week is from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a 30 min lunch break
  • Overtime will be paid after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week
  • Hours may fluctuate with work requirements
  • Work is performed at our Roper Rd office with some travel required to our Shop on 37th Ave.
