Basic Purpose:
The Laundry Attendants contribute to the consistency of departmental and brand standards by ensuring that the cleanliness of all linens is maintained.
Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):
- Collects dirty linens used by guests and prepares for washing, ensuring color separation.
- Achieve standards of cleanliness and presentation as laid out in procedures, brand standards and SilverBirch standards
- Sorts torn and stained linens.
- Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions
- Washes and dries the linens before transferring to ironing area
- Assists guests and team with any laundry issues
- Maintains the cleanliness of the laundry area including the cleaning of lint traps
- Loads linens into washers and dryers
- Report any found property following the lost and found procedures and guidelines
- Ensure the security of keys, company information, guest information and guest rooms at all times
- Report unsafe work conditions, areas requiring repair or suspicious person to the Department Head
- Understand and practice the correct usage and storage of cleaning agents in line with health and safety regulations and manufacturers' instructions
- Utilizes personal protective equipment such as gloves and biohazard disposal containers when required
- Use and clean equipment with care; reporting any defective equipment and any maintenance requests as required
- Use hotel linen in an efficient and costeffective manner while ensuring corridors are free from dirty linen as per the procedures
- Be aware of the action to be taken in the event of an emergency such as fire in accordance with procedures
- Committed to providing exceptional customer service working within the guidelines set out by procedures and the brand.
- Responding to and anticipating guest needs such as responding to special requests. Follows through on guest requests and takes action immediately
- Treat each individual with respect and fosters a cooperative, productive, positive and respectful work environment
- Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner
- Assist coworkers where necessary
- Actively sell any special promotions, the brand, and facilities available to the guest in order to contribute to overall profitability
- Provide information to guests about local attractions, services, hotel services, hotel facilities and other amenities
- Assist with team member orientation and training as required
- Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation and personal hygiene
- Attend meetings as required and recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation
- Contribute to cost control through energy conservation and correct usage and storage of all materials/equipment
- Provides a favorable image of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and the Brand to the public by consistently demonstrating SilverBirch Values (Engagement, Quality, Performance, Integrity and Growth) and Brand Values
- Other related duties and projects as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Highly organized and detail oriented with a passion for cleanliness
- Works well under pressure and without supervision
- Able to perform well in a fastpaced environment
- Energetic, honest, selfmotivated and flexible
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual and dependable
- Strong teamwork skills
Working Conditions:
- Physically fit and able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. and to bend and kneel with comfort
- Fast paced environment that is often demanding
- Stand, walk and remain on feet to perform job duties for entire shift duration
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
- Use of cleaning chemicals
Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):
- Previous cleaning experience is an asset
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
- WHMIS training is an asset but can be provided by the hotel
- Ability to communicate verbally and written in English
Job Type:
Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-32 per week
Salary:
From $16.33 per hour
Flexible Language Requirement:
- French not required

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
Supplemental pay types:
- Overtime pay
