Who we need


Our University is actively seeking a Payroll Administrator who must has a strong attention to detail and technical skills, including proficiency with automated payroll processing services.

The Canadian Payroll Association's (National Payroll Institute's) Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) accreditation can be an asset.

Payroll administrator will stay current with changes Employment Standard Act or other regulations impacting employee payroll for various provinces across Canada.

This is a Hybrid position working 2 days from our HUB in Toronto's downtown core.

What you will do:


  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of semimonthly payroll for administrative employees and monthly payroll for faculty employees
  • Ensure all data files are complete and approved for transmission to payroll service provider
  • Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets and other input documents
  • Track and enter all garnishments and other special payroll deductions
  • Investigate and resolve any payroll issues with management at various operation locations
  • Verify and process employee reimbursable expenses
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for payroll related accounts
  • Administer the issuance of T4's, ROE's, T2200, and various payroll reports as requested
  • Ensure that all salaries/wages are paid accurately and in accordance with regulations in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure payroll and other personnel records are accurate and up to date
  • Assist in the preparation of year end reports, and filing of all annual returns with federal/provincial governments
  • Work with AP and HR to ensure payment to benefits and insurance agent
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met
  • Maintain employee records confidential
  • Be the main point of contact for all payroll related inquiries
  • Work with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, and prioritize tasks, ensuring allimportant deadlines are met.

What you bring:


  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or working towards is an asset
  • A college diploma in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and ESA cross Canada
  • Proficiency with automated payroll processing services, intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • One two years of experience working in payroll
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problemsolving abilities
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team setting, a dedicated team player
  • Able to work within tight payroll deadlines
  • Emphasis on attention to detail and strong numeracy skills
  • Ability to prioritize the task based on the requirement
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Positive work ethics, work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
