We are looking for an
Education Programs Coordinator in Fort McMurray, Alberta, who will develop and coordinate opportunities for programming for children and youth, such as occupational learning and cultural education.

The incumbent will coordinate the creation of advisory councils to ensure critical perspectives are contributed to our internal discourse. It is a full-time role and requires someone in-office and in the community.


The successful applicant should have 2-4 years of experience mentoring others, knowledge of traditional Métis culture and customs, and strong interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate programs for MML 1935 membership, such as the opportunity to learn more about occupations, trades, and a cadet program.
  • Create and coordinate an annual Speakers Series to engage and support the professional development of the MML 1935 membership.
  • Plan and execute trips and educational opportunities for MML 1935 membership to learn about culture.
  • Assist with the development of a summer student program with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and coordinate the incorporation of school programming in MML 1935 annual events.
  • Setup and coordinate advisory councils to ensure all perspectives are contributed to organizational conversations.
  • Develop and facilitate content for delivering educational programming to schools and members. Planning activities that reflect and connect school curricula and Métis culture.
  • Other duties as required.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Education or a related field
  • 24 years of experience working with and mentoring others
  • Knowledge of traditional Métis culture and customs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively, objectively, and analytically
  • High level of ethics and integrity
  • Excellent written and oral communication ability
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
