If you have the ambition, talent and drive, consider a career at Canada Post. Reporting to a more senior level position, the Storekeeper supports mail operations by managing maintenance and operating supplies.

The storekeeper will operate the stores in a safe and hazard-free manner and manage the maintenance and inventory information systems to effectively plan and control materials in conjunction with maintenance activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Order parts and/or materials required
  • Ensures and maintains adequate inventory levels
  • Receive shipments and inspects for damage, quality and quantity
  • Conduct periodic stock counts to compare actual levels versus system levels
  • Investigate sources of errors and take corrective action
  • Prepare goods for shipment
  • Coordinate with appropriate end users to identify and plan material requirements

Job Responsibilities (continued):


  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (i.e. Forklift)
  • Store and handle materials using appropriate techniques (i.e. dangerous and hazardous material)
  • Manage and administer maintenance & inventory information systems as required to ensure accuracy of information, and proper planning and forecasting.
  • Be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 22.7 kilograms (50 lbs)

Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:


  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management or materials management in an industrial environment, or in a related field.

Knowledge:

  • Industrial safety practices and procedures
  • All phases of inventory cycle counts and associated activities.
  • Standard shipping and receiving practices, warehousing management practices related to storage and issue of spare parts and inventory.
  • Standard procurement practices and procedures for the replenishment of inventory items.

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to safely lift items that weigh less than 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Operate a computer and use programs such as Windows, MS Office, MS Excel.
  • Maintain inventory control, parts ordering, receive shipments, disposal of surplus stock.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Perform minor preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Operate motorized material handling equipment
