The Accounting Associate contributes to Henry Walser Funeral Home's mission to be a team of caring and
compassionate professionals who are committed to providing funeral services that help families and friends honour
their departed loved ones in a manner that helps to facilitate the healing process by ensuring the accuracy of the
information and data within the accounting processes are maintained to achieve the overall financial objectives of the
team.
Operational Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing accurate invoices for families including checking files to ensure all services, products
family, sending appropriate documents required for prepaid accounts and ensuring everything is entered into
accounting program
- Record deposits in accounting program and the Osiris database, prepare deposit sheets and take deposits to the
- Review all payable invoices to ensure disbursements are entered on appropriate contract, match with packing
- Prepare standard payable payments in accordance with payment schedule constantly monitoring any specific
- As part of month end procedures, confirm that all funerals that occurred in the month are entered into
categories
- Balance all debit slips on a daily basis and on a monthly basis, balance the debit bank account and donations
- Monitor and reconcile the petty cash and on a monthly basis post visa receipts and reconcile visa accounts
- File At Need files ensuring they are complete as well as filing of all paid invoices, copies of received payment and
- Provide assistance to the front desk during busy periods as well as all other team members when required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Ensure high levels of professionalism, caring and compassionate demeanor, and appearance are demonstrated
- Ensure high levels of quality, accuracy, and efficiency in department practices and processes
Experience, Education, and Technical Skills
- Diploma or degree from a recognized college or university in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting function
