This role is part of the broader Product and Insurance Risk Management team, which is responsible for supporting the Company's Strategic Plan by ensuring that risks related to product development, pricing, underwriting, claims management, experience analysis and reinsurance are fall within risk appetite.


Reporting to the Deputy Head, Global PIRM, and working very closely with the Head of Underwriting and Claims Management, the individual will be heavily involved in developing and overseeing underwriting and claims standards across the organization.

In so doing, the individual will gain a global perspective with a view of all our businesses in Asia, Canada, and US while also having an opportunity to gain diverse exposure and profile by working with individuals across the organization in all operating segments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the development and oversight of underwriting and claims risk management policies, standards and guidelines
  • Coordination of regular underwriting and claims risk reporting for senior management (e.g. overretention report, geographic concentration of risk, sales ban review, annual underwriting and claims selfassessment questionnaire, audit summaries, etc)
  • Member/attendee of Underwriting and Claims Committee, internal technical groups (i.e. Technical Underwriting Committee, Technical Claims Committee) and internal/external working groups on emerging risk topics (COVID, climate change, etc.)
  • Lead and support the development of key initiatives, including testing of the Global Client Index

Qualifications:


  • ASA designation, or equivalent
  • Prior product development experience is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to work effectively within and across departments, including available to attend evening meetings 23 times per week
  • Ability to handle multiple projects of varying priorities levels and scope
  • Expertise in PowerBi is an asset
