    Description
    The Opportunity:

    Our client, a Canadian mining company with global operations, is looking for a Chief Mine Engineer to join their team on their African mine site. The Chief Mine Engineer is responsible for all mine planning and mine engineering technical support of the Mining operations.

    What You'll Be Doing:
    • Ensure all mine engineering activities are conducted in a safe and effective manner by appropriately trained personnel;
    • Develop strategic mine plans for quarterly forecasts, annual mine budgets and Life of Mine (LOM) plans;
    • Ensure forecasts, budgets and LOM plans are achievable, reflect mine performance and clearly identify assumptions, input data sources and resourcing requirements;
    • Ensure implementation of effective short term (daily, weekly) mine planning to support the Mining Operations to achieve production in line with quarterly and annual targets;
    • Provide technical support to drill & blast activities (drill pattern design, explosive loading, explosive timing, analysis of drill & blast performance, optimisation of drill & blast performance);
    • Complete pit, waste dump, ore stockpile and haulage route designs;
    • Ensure Mine planning and design incorporate requirements and activities of other Mine Technical service groups (Grade Control, Mine Survey, Geotechnical, etc.);What You'll Need to Be Successful:
      • BSc Degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent qualification.
      • Large open pit hard rock mine experience essential, preferably in a multi pit operating environment.
      • 10+ years of production planning and mine engineering experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory role.
      • Expat experience would be viewed positively.
      • Significant experience within drill & blast activities, load & haul activities, production supervision, fleet management systems, production planning, mine design, cost modelling and database management.
      • Good understanding of mining equipment capabilities and mine production time usage models.
      • Proficient user of mining related software (familiarity with MineSight, Deswik and Alastri Tactical Scheduler viewed positively) and Microsoft Office products.
