Team Lead - Shipping - Bakery
The main responsibilities of this role will be to ensure orders are fulfilled end-to-end, leaving our customers satisfied.

That includes managing inventory, packing orders, creating shipping labels, coordinator with shipping companies and corresponding with customers about their orders.


You will report directly into the Plant Manager and be on ground floor of a growing business as we look to expand across North America.

You will also oversee our fulfillment process while also act as a team lead on the production team. If you have a good idea, we want to hear it and make it happen.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

Shipping 60%

  • Load outgoing trucks and unloads incoming trucks at the shipping bay.
  • Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Fill out a Receiving Report to document cleanliness of product and truck and to ensure proper temperature.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Pick (assemble) orders
  • Mark shrinkwrapped product/skid with destination information.
  • Unpack and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments.
  • Operate lift truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shippingandreceiving platform to storage or work area.

Team Lead 40%

  • Ensures that operations procedures and processes are followed and enforced daily

This includes:
safety, quality, yield, product and labour costing, public relations, HACCP, BRC, etc.

  • Ensures that Production employees have received adequate good manufacturing practices and technical training and that all staff are following all procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures that products manufactured in the department meet the regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Participates on new product development and plant trials.
  • Verify employee records or forms related to health & safety, production, and time sheets on a weekly basis, and liaise with employees to correct any inaccuracies.
  • Organize and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
  • Provide formal and informal feedback to subordinates to ensure their continuous development and overall contribution to the achievement of Queen St. Bakery business strategy.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience:


  • 13 years' experience in a food manufacturing industry, preferably bakery with a minimum of 1 years in a supervisor role.

Been in a leadhand position in the food industry( Preferably Baking):

  • Experience with HACCP and GMP procedures
  • Experience in operating commercial mixing and baking equipment( Mixers, Ovens, Proofers)
  • Forklift experience
  • Experience with production paperwork
  • Able to lift to 50lbs
  • Availability for weekend shifts.

Education and Certification Requirements:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field required.

Working Conditions:

Plant based; 95% of time is spent on the plant floor; 5% of time is spent in office setting (plant office) - Situational based.

  • 9 Hour Shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:


  • Supervisory: 3 years (preferred)
  • Food manufacturing industry: 3 years (preferred)

Education:


  • Secondary School (preferred)
