Multiple casual opportunities are available across Vancouver Island, BC._

Cooks play a vital role at Island Health, providing nourishing and balanced meals to patients every day and supporting our commitment to provide the highest quality health care services to the populations we serve.

Our casual positions allow you to build a flexible schedule to suit your needs through our automated call-out shift system.

You may choose to enrol in benefits and Municipal Pension Plan (once an initial period has passed), and you can participate in Island Health's Employee & Family Assistance Program and Preferred Purchasing Program.

Qualifications

Graduation from a recognized program in Cooking OR equivalent combination in education, training and experience.
Food Safe level 1 certification.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
