Work Description

Major Responsibilities:


  • Review construction drawings alongside the Project Management team to request locates for underground facilities for the following, Enbridge, Bell, Hydro Ottawa, Hydro One and private utilities.
  • Liaise and coordinate with utility companies for locate requests.
  • Conduct research or analysis of data pertaining to excavation locations construction prints and plants to determine actual lines of requested utilities using indepth knowledge of LAC (locate alliance consortium) requirements.
  • Screen requests to identify issues and establish priorities, work with sense of urgency demonstrating the ability to shift priorities to accomplish objectives.
- _In depth knowledge of devices used to assist in the localization and verification of underground utilities. _

  • Quality Checks; perform quality assurance on all thirdparty utility locates.
  • Compile, manage, and distribute all required documentation to appropriate contacts.
  • Track, and update daily/weekly/monthly reports regarding locates so information is available to all required stakeholders through UExcavate.
  • Lead safety training pertaining to underground utilities for all field personnel, to ensure safe work procedures are being implemented when work is being executed near both underground and overhead utilities.
  • Complete data entry into all required systems with accuracy including maintain locates archives.
  • Assist other project coordinators and staff members in the office to achieve organizational goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Statement of Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • 35 years of relevant industry experience in utility locates, civil construction or obtaining and coordinating high volumes of data.
  • DPT (Damage Prevention Technician) Certification
  • Diploma from a recognized program/postsecondary institution in Administration or other related discipline is an asset.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision towards a collective goal.
  • Capability to analyze data and obtain meaningful insights from the analyzed data.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and ability to prioritize work.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel, Word and Outlook with a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to clearly communicate with internal and external project teams both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong work ethic, dedicated, and selfdisciplined.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently; monitors own quality of work.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment:


  • Valid Driver's license
  • Difficult weather conditions, this role will require working outdoors and on site.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time at workstation.
