Key Accountabilities will include:


Fundraising & Donor Relations Management (70%)

  • Develop, prioritize and manage a portfolio of donors who have included a gift to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in their estate plans (intentions), including manage segmentation and communication to donors in the legacy society, the group of donors who have made provisions for a future gift.
  • Personally thank all newlyidentified intentions and welcome them into our legacy society, tailoring our records and communication to their preferences, including adding to portfolios as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze results of ongoing drip communications and marketing efforts for legacy giving. Conduct some prospect research to segment and qualify legacy prospects and prioritize the mostlikely leads.
  • In conjunction with planned drip communication, prioritize and actively cultivate prospects through ongoing donor connection, personal visits, and other personalized communication to move donors from prospects to confirmed intention.

Record keeping & other duties (30%)

  • Maintain meticulous notes and accurate recordkeeping including each conversation and outreach, links to allied professionals, connections to other constituents, and relevant areas of interest and family notes to maintain excellence in the donor experience.
  • Record each interaction with the Alberta Cancer Foundation for each legacy donor or prospect for accurate donor files.
  • Assist with estate administration or other gifts of assets as required.
  • Work with other members of the Philanthropy team to discuss legacy giving as needed.
  • Work with the Donor Impact team to implement appropriate recognition and stewardship strategies as needed.

Required Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education in Business Management, Marketing, or a relevant discipline.
  • 35 years of fundraising for a nonprofit organization with a proven track record in individual relationships and/or planned/legacy giving.
  • CFRE designation considered an asset
  • Knowledge of legacy giving and tax implications of charitable giving in Canada considered an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Driver's License & access to personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel as required around the province to meet with donors
