You will primarily use AutoCAD Plant 3D and related software and data for creating 3D models and ISO generation. Your time will be split between the use of CAD tools and modeling / drafting checks of drawings.

This role is based out of our Edmonton Industrial Office.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Produce, check, and revise piping models for various commercial, institutional and light industrial projects (P&IDs, GA's, Isometrics, Plot Plans, Plan/Profiles, etc.).
  • Review and implement drafting standards and specifications.
  • Experience in the development of Plant 3D Specification database.
  • Review and incorporate relevant piping materials and codes to ensure compliance with (CSA, AMSE. etc.) piping codes.
  • Conduct modeling/drafting checks of models and drawings at various stages of completion to ensure quality compliance.
  • Assist in the development of company CAD standards and procedures.
  • 3D modeling and design of piping and mechanical systems.
  • Data collection and verification.
  • Preparation of isometric drawings.
  • May also be required to check work of, and assist in training of, less experienced drafting and design personnel.
  • Advise on complex technical problems and checks work of less experienced design and drafting personnel for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant design/drafting experience
  • Experience in Piping Design/Modeling and associated materials (pipe, valves, flanges, fittings, etc.)
  • Postsecondary education in Process Piping Drafting Technology Engineering Design and Drafting.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or similar related 3D CAD technologies.
  • Experience with Hexagon Smart Plant tools like Smart Instrumentation, Smart P&ID, Smart Electrical, Smart 3D, Smart Plant Review.
  • Experience in the Canadian Construction sector, drafting skills related to piping models, P&IDs, GA's, Plan/Profile Drawings, Detailed Engineering Drawings, Isometric Drawings.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and material specifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication and organization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively within project teams to produce quality deliverables in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, problem solve and complete tasks in a timely manner and under tight deadlines.
  • Red Seal Steamfitter/Pipefitter certification along with CAD experience would be an asset but not required.
  • Experience with the use of mapping software (i.e., Google Earth, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Map 3D, etc.) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Coordinate Systems and Projections
  • AutoCAD Recap Point Cloud, Civil 3D, Synchro and Revizto Experience would be an asset.
