Position Overview
Inhaus has been a pioneer and innovator of cutting-edge flooring technology for more than 20 years. We strive to enhance the style and comfort of interior spaces one floor at a time.

Research and development is our key to success. For this reason, Inhaus seeks a Research Scientist to contribute to developing our innovative building products.

This position will be responsible for conducting research, including hands-on lab-scale testing, data analysis, literature reviews, and will work with the rest of our team to validate and optimize the performance of the building materials.

The research scientist will work closely with the company's experienced technical team and will make a large impact on the technology and business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing experimental methods and tools to validate and optimize the performance of Inhaus building composite products.
  • Understanding of microstructural and mechanical behavior of materials, fracture behaviors, and interpreting mechanical properties.
  • Performing lab experiments, including property measurements, analyzing data, and presenting results.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Testing and implementing strategies to improve building material performance.
  • Contributing to white papers & reports.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, meet deadlines, and manage time independently.
  • Diligently documenting and compiling measurement results.
  • Helping to develop a supportive, innovative, and dynamic company culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish effective working relationships.
  • Championing safety in all of the Inhaus work, especially in the development of experimental processes
  • Fostering Inhaus' reputation by delivering innovative solutions.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • B.S. in civil engineering, materials science, materials chemistry, or a related field; M.S. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials chemistry, kinetics, thermodynamics, and structurepropertyfunction relationships.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable operating laboratory equipment.
  • Able to perform lab work, including preparing test materials, setting up and operating testing equipment, and recording results.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis of experiments is preferred.
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills include listening, distilling information, consulting, and suggesting new approaches.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Balance, perspective, and a good sense of humor.
