Position Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C), the incumbent develops and executes the company's internal communications and community investment programs for the factory.

This includes generating an understanding of and engagement with the company's objectives & priorities, commitment to corporate sustainability by leveraging traditional and digital communications platforms.

In addition, the role supports the Head of CA&C in external communications providing insights and understanding of the media landscape and the interests of journalists in Quebec to improve the position and reputation of JTI-Macdonald Corp.


Responsibilities

  • Design and execute strategic communications campaigns to increase awareness and engagement with company vision, values and business strategies for the factory.
  • Create impact on global initiatives big and small from conception through to launch and ongoing optimization.
  • Provide internal communications counsel and expertise to other functions as needed.
  • Strengthen JTI's corporate brand and culture as the custodian of brand elements and usage.
  • Build a network of Quebec media contacts to ensure that JTI
  • Macdonald Corp. receives a fair share of the external tobacco voice from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Create an environment where JTI is the go to company for journalists interested in issues impacting the industry.
  • Develop and implement Community Investment programs that demonstrate JTI's commitment to the communities it operates in and act as main Contact for coordination of community investment activities in which the factory is involved.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postsecondary education in a related field.
  • 46 plus years of experience in a communications role working for a corporation or Factory.
  • Highly proficient in internal communications channel management, including intranets and internal social media platforms (Workplace, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 preferred) and experience in external communications channel management (LinkedIn, Twitter etc.).
  • Ability to selfdevelop content (using Adobe/Canva or similar) or direct/train others in doing so and proficiency with live/virtual meetings & event production an asset.
  • Good network with local Montreal city authorities and NGO's.
  • Experience in philanthropy or community investment.

Skills, Competencies & Languages

  • Passionate communicator with exceptional verbal and written communications skills in English and French.
  • Able to engage through effective writing with internal and external audiences and connect complex, wide ranging issues in a simple and impactful way.
  • Skilled influencer with strong problemsolving skills; ability to work well with peers and senior management.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to get buyin and support for projects from diverse and often widespread stakeholders.
