• Professional experience in dealing with children
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid Standard First Aid Certificate including Infant and child CPR
• Up to date immunization record
• Early Childhood Education Diploma (member of the College of ECE/Early Childhood Assistant Diploma or 1 year experience being an unqualified staff in child care.
• Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act
• Be trained in WHIMIS
• Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 20kg (44lbs.), bending and stooping
• Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork
• Ability to be flexible, to show initiative and work independently adhering to centre policies
• Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily yearround in all weather.

• Assist the Registered Early Childhood Educators (ECE) in implementing the daily program plan
• Maintain a tidy, clean environment for the children
• Participate fully in routine care and responsibilities
• Assist in preparing the learning environment, setting up the centre and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Work as a team with other RECE Teachers and ECAs in the assigned classroom so that duties are shared
• Responsible for effective and practical care of all equipment, toys and supplies
• Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating environment for children in the assigned classroom.
• Be able to take direction and take initiative
• Review and adhere to all centre policies
