    Saint John Energy is inviting applications for the role of Operations Technician until 12:00pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

    The Operations Technician provides technical services to Saint John Energy and its customers including electrical inspections, cable locating, and operation of test equipment. This position contributes to the successful development and execution of Saint John Energy's preventative maintenance program.

    The employment requirements for this position are:

    • Must possess a Trade Ticket in the utility industry.
    • Experience using iOS or Android devices and computers.
    • Experience using Microsoft based programs office and Outlook.
    • One-year experience working in a customer-service based environment.
    • Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
    • Must possess strong problem identification and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to complete moderately complex duties, requiring accuracy and attention to details at all times.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
    • Possess a Minimum of class 5 drivers' licence.

    The Duties of this position include:

    • Liaises with Engineering and Asset Management in the analysis of data from test equipment.
    • Responsible for cable location services, including liaison with Engineering Department for record purposes.
    • Aids in the development of standard construction practices, and standard operating practices.
    • Supports the development and maintenance of standard work methods.
    • Conduct surveys on Commission facilities as directed.
    • Investigate customer complaints and requests.
    • Provide assistance as directed during emergency power restoration activities on a 24-hour basis.
    • Various other temporary and/or permanent duties as required and consistent with your training and experience.

    Working Conditions:

    • 40 Hours per week.
    • Mostly outside environment in all weather conditions, requiring some physical ability.
    • Ability to move or lift up to 100 lbs.
    • Exposure to construction sites.
    • Ability to work with little supervision.
    • Some overtime may be required.
    • Participates in the on-call roster
