Summary of Duties:


Under the direction of the Manger of Childcare Services the Early Childhood Educator and/or Assistant ensures the well-being of all children and provides support with the educational program delivery.


Key Deliverables and Expectations:


  • Ensure all operational policies are established and followed in accordance with the Provincial Child Care Licensing Board, and Community Care Facility Act.
  • Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate, activities and experiences in harmony with the center's philosophy.
  • Ensure guidance of children's behavior that encourages positive selfconcept.
  • Keep up to date with early childhood education and advocacy developments.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties to ensure facilities and equipment are neat, safe and clean/sanitized.
  • Develop, implement and lead programs and activities for children.
  • Provide quality care by guiding, encouraging, and supervising children both indoors and outdoors, ensuring children's safety and wellbeing at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:


  • Previous experience is an asset, performing responsibilities listed above including case management, social work/social welfare, family studies, infant mental health, early childhood development, and/or special education.
  • Early Childhood Educator certification. Infant and toddler specialization an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Early Childhood Educator license or a willingness to obtain.
  • Understanding of Lil'wat culture & language an asset.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
  • Motivated selfstarter and with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the center's children, their parents, and staff.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable sector).
