- Work with all WCRL facilities across Western Canada and in Washington State to ensure SOPs and other standards are in compliance with environmental programs.
- Manage programs related to environmental certification or standards held by the Company including, but not limited to: Green Marine, Climate Smart, ISO 14001, etc.
- Collect and analyze data through hands‑on soil, wastewater, and sample collection.
- Prepare reports for air quality, wastewater treatment, greenhouse gas emissions and other metrics.
- Provide recommendations on operational or procedural improvements related to environmental standards.
- Review and update environmental policies and procedure manuals.
- Progressive coordination on new projects such as application for new environmental certifications, energy conservation, sustainability, environmental reporting, industrial process air and wastewater treatment, pollution prevention, etc.
- Travel to our plant divisions in Western Canada and the USA to conduct audits.
- Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values.
- Possession of a Degree in Environmental Technology or equivalent education from a recognized post‑secondary institution is required.
- Certification in Power Engineering, Wastewater Treatment Plant/Utility Operator, or similar are considered an asset.
- EP in training is a strong asset.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in each of the following is required:
- A professional industrial environment as an Environmental Technician (or similar).
- A professional industrial environment as an Environmental Coordinator (or similar).
- Prior experience, or aptitude for working with mechanical/industrial equipment, control systems and tools is an asset.
- Knowledge of field testing and sample collection (air/water/soil), interpretation of results, and regulatory reporting is a strong asset.
- Ability to travel to divisions located in Western Canada and Washington State is required.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of industrial operations or willingness to learn production processes and the ability to work with little supervision.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures.
- Experience leading projects and coordinating initiatives across internal stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate productively with employees at all levels.
- Aptitude for problem analysis and problem solving.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and job demands.
- Adaptable to adverse conditions including an industrial production environment with raw materials, odours and exposure to animal by‑products is required.

Based at our Vancouver Plant near Commercial Drive and Powell Street, we are hiring an Environmental Coordinator. The role is responsible for supporting the Environmental Manager in ensuring the Company's policies and programs adhere to all relevant environmental regulations. This hands‑on position will assist with reporting, participation in field sample testing, site inspections, audits, suggestions to improve environmental programs, and special project work across all WCRL divisions. Annual base salary range: $75,000 to $85,000.
