- Responsible for the ideation, design, and development of products, incorporating both established and emerging ingredients, techniques, and technologies.
- Maintains company's competitiveness and ensuring the product offerings align with consumer preferences and market trends.
- Develops and design prototypes for new products, establishing accurate ingredient labeling and providing nutritional and allergen details for all newly created items.
- Operates pilot plant machinery to manufacture sample batches of new products. Carries out plant trials for both new and modified products. Evaluates and grades the flavor of both old, new and samples from competitors.
- Ensures work environment is clean, orderly, and secure, adhering to all safety regulations within the facility, including plant safety and food safety/GMP guidelines.
- Engages in direct communication with suppliers and the purchasing department to secure new and substitute ingredients and capable of effectively conveying technical information to individuals at all organizational levels.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in food science or any related field.
- 3+ years related R&D / Product Development experience in the food industry
- Proven experience in product development and formulation, preferably in the food or consumer goods industry.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of GMPs, allergen control, and food regulations.
- Prior experience in the ice cream or dairy industry is an asset.
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet challenging deadlines is essential.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
