We are currently looking for a Controlling Analyst (12 Month Contract)
at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON


The Controlling Analyst is responsible for assisting in the financial reporting and controlling processes of the Group Support, After Sales & VW Brand business areas including planning round preparation, budgets, month-end, warranty finance, parts results and Connected Services.

The incumbent reports to the Technical Finance Manager and maintains detailed monthly reporting for an integrated reporting system that ensures a fast, consistent and transparent controlling process to steer the business, as well as full controlling cycle of the Connected Services platforms.

The function will support achieving a successful overall financial plan and will have a direct impact on company profitability.


This is a flex hybrid model, based out of our Ajax, ON head office.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for assisting in the overall financial planning and planning round process within the Group Functions (Group Support and Group After Sales), as well as commitment control using check and balance procedures, four
- eye-principles, and early warning processes.

  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, presentations, business cases, and reporting as required.
  • Prepare monthly analysis and financial reporting according to requirements of VGCA, VWAG and the North American Region (NAR).
  • Special projects as required with focus on streamlining reporting requirements and driving efficiencies to Controlling functions.
  • Prepare and submit monthly journal entries (account and cost centre adjustments, monthly clearings/chargebacks etc.).
  • Responsible for managing capital budget for VGCA and ensuring spend is monitored and prioritized.
  • Monthly variance analysis of key figures for Parts and Warranty
  • Map and document for warranty finance flow
  • Warranty monthend analysis and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly Warranty reserves with month over month flux analysis
  • Assists Manager, After Sales Controlling in Planning Round and Budget development, as well as commitment control using check and balance procedures, foureyeprinciples, and early warning processes:
  • Margin analysis, capital and admin requirements
  • Working with Brands to develop PR prework files and seasonality
  • Information required for PR development such as Car Park data and Macroeconomics Maintains both PR and Budget assumptions for After Sales
  • Provide timely and accurate management reporting for each Brand and the NSC (National Sales Company).
  • Monitor monthly performance and adjust forecast (admin, capital).
  • Maintain and update NSC actual and forecast models (P&L, Balance Sheet).
  • Assist in preparation of Financial Review and Supervisory Board meeting material
  • Responsible for the overall tracking and reporting of Connected Services financials
  • Prepare entries on a monthly basis related to amortization, development and running costs
  • Support the VW Brand and Group Support in a controlling capacity with reconciliations and day to day processes

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree/ College Diploma in Finance, Accounting or similar field, and/or equivalent related work experience.
  • In pursuit of obtaining the CPA designation is considered an asset
  • 3+ years' related experience
  • Expert understanding of MS office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Presentation skills to influence and negotiate

  • Ability to dissect complex financial processes and identify risks and process improvements
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing environment
  • Team player that works well under daily and monthly deadlines
  • Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset
  • Business Objects/ Tableau experience is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of automotive segments & automobile industry trends is considered an asset
  • Flexibility to work holidays, evenings or weekends during peak seasons.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 5%
