    About the Role

    The Senior Terrestrial Biologist will be part of our applied Fisheries and Aquatics team with project work in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, with a focus on, but not restricted to, supporting current and future clients in fisheries management, stock assessment, environmental assessments, and recovery of species. Work will include project identification, client liaison, proposal development, project planning, implementation, and delivery including data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting with the potential to contribute to peer‐reviewed publications and/or presentations at relevant scientific conferences.     What You Will Do

    • Support existing clients of LGL and develop new opportunities with existing or new clients, with a focus on Indigenous clients.
    • Apply ecological principles and practices to protect and manage water resources under federal, provincial, and Indigenous regulatory and policy frameworks in Canada and the US.
    • Conduct project work to standards expected of the profession.
    • Lead and assist with proposals and project reporting.
    • Travel to initiate and complete fieldwork either in a managerial role or lead scientist role.
    What You Will Bring
    • Master of Science or Doctorate with specialization in aquatic ecology, environmental assessments, and Terrestrial Biology.
    • RPBio certification (or eligibility to obtain this designation).
    • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Experience developing and/or conducting critical reviews of monitoring programs, study designs, or regulatory requirements (e.g., Environmental Assessment applications).
    • Competence with field equipment and logistics.
    • Experience developing and managing complex projects including proposals, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
    • Positive attitude and flexibility to go with the flow.
    • Willingness to work in challenging environments.

    • A starting salary within the range of $85,000−$110,000.

    Additional Requirements
    • Eligibility to work in Canada.
