    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Reporting and working in collaboration with the Director, Climate Action, Planning + Development, the Deputy Director, Planning, provides strategic guidance and direction to advance the overall vision and support for Planning and Development at the City. Leading a team of highly skilled professional planners, technologists, and support staff, the Deputy Director is accountable for achieving departmental and divisional outcomes in alignment with City objectives, policies, and regulatory requirements. In addition, the Deputy Director is a trusted resource to both internal and external partners, providing information, assistance, and counsel on planning matters that align with the growth and sustainability of the community.

    This an exciting opportunity for a Registered Professional Planner or Licensed Professional Planner who is a values-driven planning and development professional with more than ten (10) years of progressive and related leadership experience and five (5) years focused on development and policy planning within a municipal or regional government setting. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of BC building construction and regulatory requirements, and will have demonstrated knowledge of community land use, social planning, and housing planning.

    The salary range for the position is $157,590 to $173,791 annually over a 37.5-hour work week supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan. The position is eligible for vacation time supplemented by a compressed day off program and secondary leave.
