The Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) includes two departments: Business & Administration and Economics.

The FBE not only manages the regular academic duties of a Dean's Office but also fosters important relationships with external stakeholders and industry partners.

FBE is often the business community's link to the University and there exist many opportunities for partnerships, third-party funding and work-integrated learning placements.


The
Program Manager - MiM/ACCESS is a full-time term position responsible for overseeing the Master in Management (MiM) program and for leading, planning and executing the creation of the ACCESS program.

The ACCESS program will be created in partnership with Gordon Bell High School. It is designed to address the challenges faced by indigenous and newcomer students in accessing and completing post-secondary education.


Responsibilities:


Master in Management

  • Reviews and updates all marketing materials.
  • Participates in the development of marketing strategies, identifies key advertising opportunities and potential industry partners, executes recruitment strategies and outreach.
  • Researches and recommends prospective target markets, plans regionspecific initiatives.
  • Manages all marketing and recruitment projects.
  • Ensures that all recruitment efforts, activities and communications are consistent with established standards.
  • Researches and reports on national and international trends in graduate studies marketing and recruitment.
  • Ensures program details and annual dates are kept uptodate in all publications.
  • Handles the scheduling of all MiM courses.
  • Develops and revises annual budget in conjunction with the department and the Faculty Dean.
  • Issues contracts for faculty and external course developers, arranges for honorariums and stipends to be paid.
  • Oversees all course registrations in mandatory and elective classes.
  • Issues Letters of Admission, tracking acceptances and deferrals.
  • Handles complex inquiries from students, external and internal stakeholders.
  • Advises students with grievances about University policies and regulations.
  • Compiles and presents appeals on behalf of students.
  • Reviews students' progress at the end of term, ensuring requirements are met.
  • Examines internal processes related to the MiM program, suggests and implements procedural improvements.
  • Hires and oversees Student Assistant.
  • Develops and purchases promotional gifts.
  • Coordinates, plans and executes major events, maintains detailed files and records for each event.
  • Maintains database of events, projects and industry partners.

Business and Economics ACCESS program

  • Help to establish and manage the Faculty of Business and Economics' ACCESS program in conjunction with Gordon Bell High School.
  • Participates in setting and defining goals and priorities, oversee implementation.
  • Works with Aboriginal Student Services Centre (ASSC) and International, Immigrant and Refugee Student Services (IIRSS) to ensure appropriate cultural and social support for students.
  • Coordinates a mentorship program for students in concert with CPA Canada.
  • May represent the program at functions, conferences and on internal and external boards and committees.
  • Provides research and accurate student statistical reports.
  • Contribute to the design and content of advertising and recruiting materials, and content for social media platforms.
  • Delivers group orientation sessions, provide information to applicants and schools.
  • Prepares and maintains annual budget in consultation with the Dean.
  • Maintains and reviews academic and administrative policies and processes.
  • Collaboratively plan, coordinate and implement course offerings,
  • Manages and leads the student selection and admission process.
  • Develop individualized academic plans.
  • Confirms course loads, academic standing, fees, program outlines.
  • Coordinates and plans professional development workshops and arranges for tutoring opportunities for students.
  • Reviews student progress at the end of term to ensure requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Counselling and support services to address student needs.
  • Conduct exit interviews when students leave or are withdrawn from a program.
  • Identifies additional funding through other potential partners to support the expansion of the program to other high schools.
  • Develops long and shortterm strategies to ensure academic and programming needs are met.
  • Conducts research on current opportunities and community needs related to ACCESS programming.
  • Builds and enhances relationships with administrators in urban and northern communities and identifies key allies at target schools.

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree is required.
  • Project Management certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of four years' experience working in postsecondary administration.
