System Administrator - Network and Unified Communication

Here is what a typical day looks like

  • Collaborating with senior members of the networking team to design and implement functional company networks.
  • Installing and configuring networking and communication hardware.
  • Conducting regular network performance tests to ensure optimal performance.
  • React to users concerns to deal with escalated network support issues.
  • Responding to network outages and supporting remote offices.
  • Working with vendors to maintain critical support levels within defined SLAs, both internal and external.
  • Documentation of logical systems and asset tracking
  • Ensuing all systems have secure connections and perform smoothly to serve the needs of its employees.
  • Performing daytoday maintenance and repairs, including but not limited to firmware updates, device installations and upgrades, routine automation, security maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and technical support for all users and projects of the organization.
  • Maintaining internal infrastructure requirements including,, routers, switches, firewalls,, phones, security updates; supporting internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  • Interacting with the other support tiers and teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
  • Ensuring network parity between development, test, and production environments
  • Maintaining internet connections and firewall and monitoring security tools.
  • Responding immediately to security or usability concerns.

The value you bring

  • Degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or combination of relevant training and experience.
  • 24 years work experience as a Network Administrator working on network or other communications related environments.
  • Knowledge of network systems including Cisco, Palo Alto, wireless and VPN.
  • Knowledge of networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, wiring, and their roles within an enterprise network environment
  • Knowledge of telephony configurations and management an asset
  • Familiarity with communication and routing protocols
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools including SolarWinds is an asset
  • High level problemsolving and communication skills

Certifications
One or more of the following certifications would be beneficial for the role.


One of these Cisco designations:

  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP)Wireless
  • Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)Software Defined Networking (SDN)

One of these Palo Alto designations:

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Detection and Remediation Analyst

Microsoft Azure:

  • ONF Certified SDN Associate (OCSA)Azure
  • Designing and Implementing Microsoft Azure Networking Solutions (AZ700T00)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ500)
  • Nice to have:
  • VMware Certified Professional
  • Network Virtualization 2019 (VCP-NV 2019)
