True North Event Crew is Calgary's leader in Event staffing.
We provide all the personnel needed to create amazing concerts, festivals, and sporting events, including Stagehands, Riggers, Fork Ops, Follow Spot Ops, Production Runners, Stage Managers and more.
Role Description
This is a part-time/Casual role as a Stagehand (Audio Visual tech) with True North Event Crew. Shifts take place at event venues all across Calgary and surrounding areas.
Stagehands will assist with the setup and tear down of equipment (Audio, Video, Lighting, backline, stage, and more) for concerts, theatrical productions, conferences, and other live events.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of stage equipment, props, and scenery
- Operate and maintain stage equipment during performances
- Follow cues and instructions from production companies, stage managers
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on stage equipment as needed
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks for touring productions
- Maintain a clean and organized backstage area
Minimum Qualifications

Experience with audio-visual equipment setup and operation. Previous experience working as a stage hand or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of rigging, lighting, or staging
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members
- Willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs and work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations
- An interest in Music and/or sporting environments.
- Knowledge of theatrical stage directions and terminology is a plus
- Standard First aid and CPR and AED
- Fall Safety
- Aerial Work Platform Certificate
Compensation
- Starting Wage is $25/h for our Stagehands.
- Vacation pay
- Higher wages for those with specialized roles/certificates.
- 4 hr minimum Shift call outs
