Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


Reporting to a Program Manager, the Community Development Worker plans, executes and evaluates activities and programs that maintain and promote the physical, emotional and cognitive well-being of the Health and Wellness Centre for Seniors clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


Responsibilities:


  • Research, report and recommend new and updated recreational, social and motivational activities for the Health and Wellness Centre for Seniors programs that promote and support through facilitation, outreach and making connections, the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of clients;
  • Collaborate and assist with the implementation of special projects, summer activities and special events;
  • Monitor and assess client's physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and progress and adapting programs to meet their needs;
  • Providing support and direction to program volunteers and students.
  • Activation Diploma or related education;
  • Experience working with older adults in a formal program setting.

Key skills and abilities we are looking for:

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Team development and leadership skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Applied computer skills (Microsoft Office, Client Information Systems, Web browsing);
  • Fluency in a second language is a strong asset and preferred.
