Compensation Range

Job Summary


The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine (FoM), Academy of Translational Medicine (ATM) strives to meet the education and training learning needs of the translational medicine ecosystem in BC, including UBC faculty members, trainees and students, BC's clinicians and bio-innovation industry and life science sector.

The Education Coordinator is a key member of the ATM education team.

The incumbent will contribute their creativity, project coordination and organizational skills as well as their educational expertise to establish new education programs and coordinate new and existing education programs and growing the education capacity of the ATM.

The incumbent coordinates with organizations concerned with translational medicine, population health, and health policy or management education and is responsible for assisting faculty members and staff in developing, coordinating and executing education programs using current as well as new and innovative methods of delivery.

Organizational Status

The Education Coordinator reports to the ATM Operations Director. Some direction is taken from the director and associate director of the ATM.

The incumbent works in close alliance with UBC Extended Learning, FoM office personnel, UBC faculty members, external project partners, and other project coordinators and managers.


The Academy of Translational Medicine (ATM) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is being established by the Faculty of Medicine (FoM).

The ATM is a nucleus for translational medical research, education and training, and innovation.

The ATM is a strategic imperative for the FoM and has a mandate to collaborate with other units in the FoM, UBC and beyond to accelerate the T0-T4 translational medicine continuum.

The ATM will drive impactful medical research to create new knowledge to improve health outcomes and benefit society.

The ATM will also be a nucleus for the development of new academic and training programs, creating a cutting-edge ecosystem in which top educators and researchers train the next generation of health innovators.

The Faculty - comprised of approximately 2,200 administrative support, technical/research and management and professional staff, as well approximately 650 full-time academic and 8,500 clinical faculty members - is composed of 19 academic basic science and/or clinical departments, three schools, and 23 research centres and institutes.

Together with its University and Health Authority partners, the Faculty delivers innovative programs and conducts research in the areas of health and life sciences.

Faculty, staff and trainees are located at university campuses, clinical academic campuses in hospital settings and other regionally based centres across the province.

This position reports directly to the Operations Director at the ATM.

The Education Coordinator works closely with ATM leadership and administrative staff, embedded faculty communicators, research faculty members and with external partners and community stakeholders.
