WHO WE ARE


The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport.

As the global regulatory body, WADA's primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries.


Our key activities include:

scientific and social science research; education; intelligence & investigations; development of anti-doping capacity; and, monitoring of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Program.


POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a passionate privacy counsel to join our legal team.

In this role, you will support the Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs & Privacy in developing and maintaining WADA's privacy management program, as well as support WADA's efforts to harmonize the protection of privacy within the global anti-doping community via the International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information.


MAIN CHALLENGES

  • Develop and maintain internal privacy management program, under direction of the Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs & Privacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on privacyrelated matters to internal stakeholders;
  • Conduct legal assessments of data processing activities;
  • Support departmental privacy champions in completing data processing activity assessments and implementing required controls;
  • Assist with training development, templates and other educational resources related to the International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information (ISPPPI);
  • Monitor external stakeholder compliance with the ISPPPI and support activities aimed at building stakeholder capacity;
  • Preparing and maintaining internal reports on the privacy office's activities;
  • Assist with the drafting of policies, procedures and other documents;
  • Stay up to date of global privacy laws and regulations and monitor changes that may impact the organization;
  • Review and assess vendor relationships drafting and reviewing contracts;
  • Maintaining and supporting retention framework and schedules;
  • Build privacy awareness by developing and delivering training and awareness activities;
  • Assist the Associate Director or other Legal staff members, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Qualified lawyer, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in privacy;
  • Privacy certifications are an asset;
  • Experience navigating international privacy compliance, an asset;
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, an asset;
  • Strong work ethic, creative thinker, and a selfstarter;
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, analyze, summarize, and report on legal documents;
  • Deeply interested in exploring the intersection of privacy, antidoping and sport;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in one of the two WADA official languages (English/French) and very good command of the other official language; Additional languages are an asset;
  • Periodic work in the evening or on weekends;
