    On Side Restoration is opening a new branch in St. John, New Brunswick and we're looking to add some experienced restoration workers to our team. Do you have previous experience working in restoration? Do you love working in the restoration industry, helping people whose property has been damaged by a fire, a flood, a crime scene or other disasters?     Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)

    Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

    Responsible for...

    The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

  • Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
  • Framing
  • Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
  • Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
  • Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
  • Insulation and vapour barrier installation (know BC codes)
  • Being awesome, in general You can look at the scope of work and complete all the required tasks
  • Installation
  • Doors
  • Trim, moldings, and baseboards
  • Hardware installation
  • Cabinetry
  • Ability to take a rebuild claim if required and complete from start to finish
  • What you bring

    The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a 'get it done' attitude. Additional abilities required include:

  • Experience working in construction environments
  • Tools and the skills to use them
  • Strong people and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
  • A safety mindset
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Other stuff that'll help you be successful but isn't mandatory:

  • Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
  • IICRC certification (restoration focus)
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid
  • Of Note

    Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
