Casual Language Instructors

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)/English as a Second Language (ESL)

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 27,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

With a dedicated staff of more than 2,900, Grand Erie is committed to learning, leading and inspiring. The Education Centre is located in Brantford.

Grand Erie Learning Alternatives English Language Classes provides language instruction for adults and is currently accepting resumes for this position.


Responsibilities:


As a casual language instructor, you will provide language instruction to adults using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

This position could include any level of ESL from ESL Literacy, CLB 1-8 and maybe multi-level.


Qualifications:


  • University Degree and TESL Ontario Certification from a recognized institution
  • Experience in adult English as a Second Language instruction
  • Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) training and experience
  • CLB Bootcamp certificate preferred
  • Proficient computer and technology skills to aid in instruction including D2L in the virtual learning environment and Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills

Hours of Work

  • 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with 1⁄2 hour unpaid lunch
    Rate of Pay
- $36.69 per hour
