***Working within the Education Department, Lalme' Iwesawtexw (Seabird Island Community School), Under the direction of the Principal, the Secondary and Post-Secondary Coordinator is primarily responsible for the coordination, promotion, and administration of the Secondary and Post-Secondary Program. The Secondary and Post-Secondary Coordinator will identify barriers, develop relationships, coordinate assigned events, budgets, payments, and services offered by the program. Work one-on-one with secondary and potential post-secondary students to support and mentor them on their journey to post-secondary education, through planning career goals and advocating for their continued success. The Coordinator will support a culture of learning, through organizing community meetings, creating relationships, participating in awards, hosting workshops, and working with other teams in the company to support and celebrate students.


This position will provide support in a work environment that is conducive to teamwork and efficiently delivers services to students as part of the Education, College, and Schools team.

While a considerable degree of time and attention are given to the day-to-day administration of the Post-Secondary Support program, this position is part of the College team and may aid Seabird College when necessary.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Strong knowledge of Post-Secondary Policy and National Post-Secondary guidelines.
  • Manage the daytoday administration of the program including the processing of payments to institutions and students and other administrative functions and ensure the timely management of the program within the approved budget. Including but not limited to, incentives, school supplies, school fees, allowances, and other support services.
  • Oversee budget planning, implementation, and grants for the Secondary and Post-Secondary program.
  • Liaise with postsecondary institutions regarding prerequisites, registration, student supports, payments and administration matters.
  • Recommend funding for awards and scholarships in alignment with postsecondary policy and provide advice on policy changes as needed.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Organize education awards, events and participate in graduation planning including but not limited to, distributing gifts, honour roll, incentives, and supplements.
  • Provide consulting services to community groups and agencies, businesses, industry, and other organizations involved in providing communitybased career planning support or resources
  • May administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes, and abilities of clients.

Student Supports:


  • Work oneonone with students in grades 812 to gain a sense of their career goals and assist them with crafting longterm plans for reaching their education or career objectives.
  • Work oneonone with students interested in postsecondary education to assist them with crafting longterm plans for reaching their education or career objectives, enrolment, university readiness, and helping to assess and reducing barriers, such as transportation, travel, tutoring, study strategies, etc.
  • Meet with students on campus at their postsecondary institutions at least 2 times per year to closely monitor their progress, assess unmet needs, support, and advocate for the student to ensure successful postseconda
