Southwestern Ontario is one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada,
offers settlement services to newcomers to Canada, operates 2 overnight camps and 16 Health & Fitness
branches across Southwestern Ontario, and we have been making a positive difference in the
communities we serve for over 50 years

The YMCA is seeking a high energy individual who is passionate, outgoing and who will promote both
fun and safety. Those chosen for this position will closely work with the youth the Chatham-Kent
community to provide a safe space for youth to develop skills, engage in healthy relationships, develop
healthier habits, participate in community-based opportunities, and use the YMCA amenities. The youth
drop-in staff will be responsible for youth safety, enjoyment, solving problems and dealing with conflicts
as they arise.

Chatham-Kent YMCA

Schedule:

Friday Evenings 4:30-7:30pm


Start Date:
August 18th 2023


Salary:
$16.50/hour

In this role, you will:


  • Create an energetic, professional, safe, and fun environment during programming
  • Develop healthy relationships with dropin youth
  • Deliver youth dropin programming while incorporating youth voice
  • Setup and take down of activities/equipment
  • Provide supervision of youth during program hours
  • Provide guidance for conflict resolution between youth participants
  • Implement and remind youth of the Respect Contract
  • Complete signin with youth to collect data of participation numbers, memberships and pass

Education and Skills Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience working with youth aged 131
  • Restorative Justice experience an asset
  • Participation in Mental Health First Aid (training provided)
  • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of
- employment for all staff and volunteers
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
