PROJECT OVERVIEW
A Network Analyst, reporting to the NetOps Team Lead, is required for the following:

  • Network review and Redesign of Core and Edge infrastructure to simply support, improve performance, and decommission aging hardware
  • Migration to Cisco Catalyst / DNA Center for Wireless monitoring and management
  • Tier 3 assistance for complex problems the operation team are working through
  • Transition Cisco ASA Firewalls to the Cisco Secure Firewall platform (formerly FTD, managed using FMC)
  • Will assist the Protected Services Unit with duties as required

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
- achieve a high availability IT network infrastructure and IT network services, in accordance with the government of Alberta, Technology Services, Service Level Agreements.
- hands-on implementation, upgrading, trouble-shooting of network software and hardware infrastructure.
- manage and prioritize workload. Check and balance the workload against the team requirements, to result in a service delivery model characterized by cross-training, workload sharing and collaborative team effort.
- effective teamwork and proficient communication with team members and supported ministries.
- lead and/or participate in networking projects, and plan, design, implement, support and document best practices.
- participate and contribute to cross-function IT projects by providing technical IT networking know-how and expertise.
- perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
- plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
- develop and maintain documentation.
- develop network related procedures.
- provide cross training and knowledge transfer to team members.


MANDATORY SKILLS

  • Proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: (7+ years)
  • University graduation in computer science or a related discipline and 3yr Network Analyst experience;
OR

  • 2yr diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 5yr Network Analyst experience;
OR

  • 1yr certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 6yr Network Analyst experience;
OR

  • 7yr Network Analyst experience
  • Active CCNA Certification or equivalent (copy of certification must be included in submission)
  • Demonstrated handson experience with Cisco ACI including the planning, design, and implementation, of an intermediate to large scale network infrastructure (2+ years)
  • Experience with Cisco layer 13 technologies, including the planning, design, and implementation, of an intermediate to large scale network infrastructure (3+ years)
  • Direct involvement in developing bestpractices documentation (for example, operational procedures, network diagrams, etc.) (3+ years)
  • Handson experience with QOS across an Enterprise Class organization, which includes devices such as (Catalyst 6500 switches, Nexus 9K, 7K, and 5K, ISR (29xx and 4xxx Series), ASR routers series, Cisco switches 2960 and 3650/3850, 4500 and 9600 series, including the planning, design, and implementation (2+ years)
  • Experience working with wireless networks (2+ years)
  • Experience with networking aspects of Microsoft Windows desktop, servers, and nixbased servers (2+ years)
  • Experience providing customer service technical troubleshooting and problem resolution (3+ years)
  • Resource agrees to an Enhanced Security Check (ESC) upon contract award. Resource must have the last 3 years continuous residency in either Canada or United States as a minimum to conduct the ESC.
  • Proposed resource must work from within Alberta, due to network and data security policies. Standard Hours of work are 08:1 16:30 Alberta time. GoA does not pay for travel to attend onsite meetings

DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine
